 Health is Wealth

Once upon a time, there lived a generous and kind-hearted king. But the people weren't happy with their king because the king was very lazy and would not do anything other than eating and sleeping.

He spent days and weeks and months in his bed either eating something or sleeping. The king became a potato couch and the people started to worry about the king.

One day, the king realized that he couldn't even move his body, not even his foot. He became very fat and his enemies made fun of him, calling him 'fatty king', 'bulky king' etc.

The king invited expert doctors from various parts of his country and offered them generous rewards to make him fit. Unfortunately, none could help the king gain his health and fitness. The king spent enormous amounts of money but everything went in vain.

One fine morning, a holy man visited the country. He heard about the ill-health of the king, and informed the minister at the palace that he could easily cure the king. Hearing these promising words, the minister became very happy. He requested the king to meet the holy man to get rid of his problem.

The holy man resided at a distant place. Since the king could not move his body, he asked the minister to bring the holy man to the palace, but the holy man refused. He said that the king had to go to him, in order to get cured.

After strenuous efforts, the king met the holy man at the latter's residence. The holy man complimented the king saying that he was a good ruler, and said that he would soon regain his health. He asked the king to come for treatment the next day. He told the king also that the king would be treated only if he came on foot to the holy man's residence.

The King was unable to walk even a few steps on the road, but aided by his followers, he reached the holy man's place. Unfortunately, the holy man was not available there and his devotee requested the king to come and meet him the next day for treatment.

This was repeated for two weeks and the king never met the holy man, and never had any treatment.

Gradually, the king realized that he felt a lot lighter, lost a considerable amount of weight and felt more active than before. He realized the reason why the holy man asked him to reach his place by walking.

Very soon, the king regained his health, and the people were very happy in his kingdom.

स्वास्थ्य ही धन है

 एक बार की बात है, एक उदार और दयालु राजा रहता था। लेकिन लोग अपने राजा से खुश नहीं थे क्योंकि राजा बहुत आलसी था और खाने और सोने के अलावा कुछ नहीं करता था।

 राजा ने अपने देश के विभिन्न हिस्सों से विशेषज्ञ डॉक्टरों को आमंत्रित किया और उन्हें फिट करने के लिए उदार पुरस्कार की पेशकश की। दुर्भाग्य से, कोई भी राजा को अपना स्वास्थ्य और फिटनेस हासिल करने में मदद नहीं कर सका। राजा ने भारी मात्रा में धन खर्च किया लेकिन सब कुछ व्यर्थ चला गया।

 एक अच्छी सुबह, एक पवित्र व्यक्ति ने देश का दौरा किया। उसने राजा की तबीयत के बारे में सुना, और महल में मंत्री को सूचित किया कि वह राजा को आसानी से ठीक कर सकता है। इन वचनों को सुनकर मंत्री जी बहुत खुश हुए। उसने राजा से अनुरोध किया कि वह अपनी समस्या से छुटकारा पाने के लिए संत से मिलें।

 साधु दूर स्थान पर रहता था। चूँकि राजा अपने शरीर को हिला नहीं सकता था, उसने मंत्री से पवित्र व्यक्ति को महल में लाने के लिए कहा, लेकिन पवित्र व्यक्ति ने मना कर दिया। उसने कहा कि ठीक होने के लिए राजा को उसके पास जाना होगा।

 कठोर प्रयासों के बाद, राजा पवित्र व्यक्ति से उसके निवास पर मिले। पवित्र व्यक्ति ने राजा की प्रशंसा करते हुए कहा कि वह एक अच्छा शासक था, और कहा कि वह जल्द ही अपने स्वास्थ्य को पुनः प्राप्त कर लेगा। उसने राजा से अगले दिन इलाज के लिए आने को कहा। उसने राजा से यह भी कहा कि राजा के साथ तभी व्यवहार किया जाएगा जब वह पवित्र व्यक्ति के निवास पर पैदल आएगा।

 राजा सड़क पर कुछ कदम भी नहीं चल पा रहा था, लेकिन अपने अनुयायियों की सहायता से वह पवित्र व्यक्ति के स्थान पर पहुंच गया। दुर्भाग्य से, संत वहां उपलब्ध नहीं थे और उनके भक्त ने राजा से अगले दिन इलाज के लिए आने और उनसे मिलने का अनुरोध किया।

 यह दो सप्ताह के लिए दोहराया गया था और राजा कभी भी पवित्र व्यक्ति से नहीं मिले, और कभी भी कोई इलाज नहीं किया।

 धीरे-धीरे, राजा ने महसूस किया कि वह बहुत हल्का महसूस कर रहा है, काफी मात्रा में वजन कम हो गया है और पहले की तुलना में अधिक सक्रिय महसूस कर रहा है। उन्हें इसका कारण समझ में आया कि साधु ने उन्हें पैदल चलकर अपने स्थान पर पहुंचने के लिए क्यों कहा।

 बहुत जल्द, राजा का स्वास्थ्य ठीक हो गया, और लोग उसके राज्य में बहुत खुश थे।

UNHELPFUL FRIEND

Unhelpful Friends

Bunny rabbit lived in the forest. He had many friends. He was proud of his friends. One day Bunny rabbit heard the loud barking of wild dogs. He was very scared. He decided to ask for help. He quickly went to his friend deer. He said, "Dear friend, some wild dogs are chasing me. Can you chase them away with your sharp antlers?"

The deer said, "That is right, I can. But now I am busy. Why don't you ask bear for help?"

Bunny rabbit ran to the bear. "My dear friend, you are very strong. Please help me. Some wild dogs are after me. Please chase them away," he requested to the bear.

The bear replied, "I am sorry. I am hungry and tired. I need to find some food. Please ask the monkey for help."

Poor Bunny went to the monkey, the elephant, the goat and all his other friends. Bunny felt sad that nobody was ready to help him.

He understood that he had to think of a way out by himself. He hid under a bush. He lay very still. The wild dogs did not find the bunny. They went chasing other animals.

Bunny rabbit learnt that he had to learn to survive by himself, not depending on his unhelpful friends.

Moral: It is better to rely on yourself than depend on others.

बन्नी खरगोश जंगल में रहता था।  उसके कई दोस्त थे।  उसे अपने दोस्तों पर गर्व था।  एक दिन खरगोश खरगोश ने जंगली कुत्तों के भौंकने की आवाज सुनी।  वह बहुत डरा हुआ था।  उसने मदद मांगने का फैसला किया।  वह जल्दी से अपने मित्र हिरण के पास गया।  उसने कहा, "प्रिय मित्र, कुछ जंगली कुत्ते मेरा पीछा कर रहे हैं। क्या तुम अपने नुकीले सींगों से उनका पीछा कर सकते हो?"

 हिरण ने कहा, "यह सही है, मैं कर सकता हूँ। लेकिन अब मैं व्यस्त हूँ। आप भालू से मदद क्यों नहीं माँगते?"

 भालू ने उत्तर दिया, "मुझे क्षमा करें। मैं भूखा और थका हुआ हूं। मुझे कुछ भोजन खोजने की जरूरत है। कृपया मदद के लिए बंदर से पूछें।"

 बेचारा बन्नी बंदर, हाथी, बकरी और उसके सभी दोस्तों के पास गया।  बनी को इस बात का दुख हुआ कि कोई उसकी मदद के लिए तैयार नहीं था।

 वह समझ गया था कि उसे खुद ही कोई रास्ता निकालना होगा।  वह एक झाड़ी के नीचे छिप गया।  वह बहुत शांत पड़ा रहा।  जंगली कुत्तों को बनी नहीं मिली।  वे अन्य जानवरों का पीछा करते हुए चले गए।

 बनी खरगोश ने सीखा कि उसे अपने अनुपयोगी मित्रों पर निर्भर न होकर, अकेले ही जीवित रहना सीखना होगा।

 Moral: दूसरों पर निर्भर रहने से बेहतर है कि आप खुद पर भरोसा करें।
